After living in a home for a while, it can be hard to imagine the possibilities. So even after five years of dreaming about a new kitchen, our clients at The Rudy didn’t realize that their home’s awkward and cumbersome U-shaped layout was fixable.

By opening a wall between the foyer and kitchen, Shannon completely overhauled the hardworking family spaces, creating a circular traffic pattern through the busiest areas of the house. She also “borrowed” space from the garden to create a separate prep kitchen which serves as the homeowner’s baking hub. Just this compact 100 sq ft addition makes the client feel like they have double the living space.

Life is easier in this family home with triple the storage and a fabulous laundry room that almost makes it fun to do the wash.

(Rudy’s favorite part of the remodel is definitely the window seat.)
