The challenge: how to incorporate a “trendy” style in a way that won’t look dated in a few years? Our clients at the Dash project envisioned a modern farmhouse kitchen, but we didn’t want the design to scream “2020s.”

The solution? To combine the textures of the farmhouse with a clean, modern palate. Removing a load-bearing wall and replacing it with a huge Douglas fir beam opened up the space while incorporating barn-inspired wood. A pair of quartz-topped islands provide both work and seating space with rustic leather stools. And these natural materials provide needed warmth to the simple black and white color scheme.
